panoptes

Patched together in Dr. Dayglow's lab for use in The Facility, Panoptes is a conglomeration of eyeballs with a viscous ectoplasm loosely binding them together. Through fiber-optic cables, patched to Robotephant's hard drive, Panoptes "secretly" records the activities of every creature in The Facility. To be fair, it is difficult to hide clusters of eyeballs.

Smash Tokyo Toys’ Seismic Ace Unboxed

Seismic Ace

We unboxed one of these bad boys because truth is more exciting than stock photos. Look at him shine!

This is the premiere release from Smash Tokyo Toys. Seismic Ace stands at 9″ tall, has 360 degree rotating, magnetically attached arms and enough weight to smash your Crispy Creme. Billed as a DIY toy, this piece has enough character to stand on it own. This Robot has a one piece head-torso-and-legs with removable arms for easy customisation.

Can’t wait to see what artists do with these. Edition of 470. We’ve got some in stock here.

Thoughts On Thoughts in Jeremyville

Thoughts in Jeremyville

Nobody knew quite what to expect when Kidrobot announced they were making a super mini-series with Jeremyville. And yet, that is exactly what this is. These teeny 3D characters look as though they lept out of one of the Aussie artist’s sketchbooks. They’re cute and they’re colorful, and if you’re a fan of Jeremyville, you won’t be disappointed. There are 20 different figures, and you could probably put them on a psych chair and analyze them (as we did). If you’re looking for capsule toys, these aren’t exactly them. Instead, imagine zipper pulls without hardware. We opened up 5 boxes and got 5 different figures. [Unsubstantiated] rumor is that there’s a full series in every case, but besides the 5 different pulls we got, we can’t confirm that. We can confirm that they’re fun though. You can get them by the case or as individual 1-inch figures. And yes, the chair’s for sale too.

Star Wars Meets High Fashion

Neon Monster's Crossoversauce
Star Wars Fashion by John Woo

As Comic Con approaches, the schism between Star Wars fans and fashionistas seems to only widen. Not so says Hong Kong-based illustrator John Woo, who decks out key characters from Star Wars in today’s top brands for his latest series, He Wears It. Featured brands include  COMME des GARCONS, Viktor & Rolf, Supreme, visvim, Maison Martin Margiela, Thom Browne and Band of Outsiders. This is a similar concept to the Kidrobot x Barneys project from 2005 that paired 12-inch Huck Gee Skullheads with miniature couture.

New Fire Robo, Fenton and Mongolion in Store Now!

Fenton, Mongolion, Fire Robo

A trio of new vinyls from Super7 has just arrived in the Neon Monster shop in San Francisco and in cyberspace. First up, Brian Flynn’s candy cutie, Fenton, in a 3-inch gotta-have-it glow-in-the-dark with pink colorway. At just $15, the little snack is already sold out at Super7, but we’ve got a few left. Next up, L’amour Supreme’s 5-inch incredibly detailed Mongolion figure gets busy in clear red with some teal and yellow sprays. Finally, local guy Jeremy Whiteaker joins the 4-inch Super7 Monster Family with his Fire Robo character. This is the premier colorway in glossy black and red, meaning as with most first iterations of toys and many black and red colorways, it’s the one you will probably kick yourself for missing. You should also check out Jeremy’s blog, Mutant Massacre, for full details on test shots and the whole making of the Fire Robo figure.

Stussy x James Jarvis (and Ren & Stimpy too)

stussy-jarvis-1

A few weeks ago, Stussy announced a rad collab with James Jarvis. Those T-shirts are all currently still available (in white, black and a color) for $28 starting here. We love Jarvis and we love Stussy, so it’s a win win summer shirt range. The shirts carry a very subtle, perhaps very British, sense of sarcasm, which if worn in certain areas of the world, could almost seem to translate as truth rather than cynical statement. If that were to happen, it would at least open up some great dialogue…

stussy-jarvis-2

While the Jarvis shirts have been news for a short while, today, Stussy Japan announced a Ren & Stimpy shirt in white (above left) and black dropping June 26th. No word on whether the Ren & Stimpy are going to be available overseas at this time. For locals, the James Jarvis shirts are in stock at the Stussy store on Haight Street in San Francisco.

One of the most exciting figures discovered in the bags has been a pink GID Monster Family figure by David Horvath and Sun-Min named Power Mister. Other cool surprises include: unpainted figures, signed figures, never-before-seen colorways, mash-ups, hybrids and customs by Leecifer, Paul Kaiju and Brian Flynn. What will your bag contain? Each bag is sealed, so only you will know. Judging from the twitpics posted over the weekend, people seem pretty happy with the contents of the bags they got. Of course, there’s now new fodder for trading. Check out a few photos of the bags’ interiors below. Note that these are examples only. Every bag is a surprise. If you want to see some potential contents, check out these Flickr sets by Fiends Ain’t Family, Toybot Studios and Dril One.

Get your Lucky Bag here. Limit one per household.
