DGPH’s Journey To Molestown at G1988
Argentinian designers DGPH have a show up at Gallery1988SF now through April 24th. Toy fans should be no strangers to DGPH, as they’ve been involved in the plush and vinyl community for years (see Topo and Tsuchi). Journey to Molestown is made up of nearly 100 small character-driven animal-oriented pieces. The focus on fauna ties in with their ARK Project where DGPH curated a collection of animals from all over the world drawn by artists from all over the world. Arbito, Van Beater, Julie West, Friends With You, APAK, Jon Burgerman, Tado, Lou Pimentel and Devilrobots are just a handful of the 210 designers who chose and illustrated an animal from their region. The ARK Project is currently available as a book, and I picked up a copy at G1988. It’s a tidy tome for $34, and the only “bible” I currently own.
Swing by the gallery to check out the work, especially if you dig animals and have a fondness for monsters with googly eyes. There’s a very Luke Chueh-y looking Rabbit in the photo above.
All of the pieces are available online here. Click through for a few more snaps.

That rabbit is indeed very Luke Chueh, but I like it! DGPH always has cute monsters and critters. Really liking this!
