Neon Monster’s Favorite Pink Monsters of 2009
In 2009, pink was no longer too effete for guys. But then, there have always been men, and women for that matter, who favor the color. Among toy collectors–and especially monster toy collectors–pink holds a special place. Nowhere is this more true than at Neon Monster headquarters. We’ll soon be debuting a plush version of our mascot, Mitch, and we hope he’ll be one of your favorite pink monsters of 2010. So without further ado, we present: Neon Monster’s Favorite Pink Monsters of 2009.
- Le Merde (Mike Kelly) makes monsters (and skaters) out of resin and drizzles them with sweet, syrupy pink. Toy collectors go wild.
- PlaSeeBo (Bob Conge) and Dead Presidents (Matt Walker) collaborated on this dazzling vinyl Skulloctopus.
- The Hawaii colorway of Super7’s Ooze Bat was a fan favorite.
- Buff Monster lives by the mantra “pink is power,” and his magenta Demon Seed kaiju oozes it.
- Cometdebris (Koji Harmon) is known for his great customs, but this clear pink Tokoji Seijin is perfect as it stands.
- Carlos Enriquez Gonzales’ Magical Vagina sold at auction in 2009. Enough said.
- Instinctoy’s Inc Bear is being attacked by parasites, but it’s still pretty in pink.
- Mishka collaborated with CURE on this pink Boogieman for the launch of their flagship store in Brooklyn.
- Tim Biskup and T9G collaborated on several outstanding toys in 2009. The pink Helper is one of many greats.
- David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim represented for the mini-monster contingency with pink editions of Wedgehead, Ox, Babo and Ice-Bat. Stock up on Ugly action figures here.
A Top Ten can’t please everyone. Who did we forget???

[...] We’re a little late to post news on these awesome Mishka toy exclusives, but it’s never too late to roll out the welcome mat. It goes without saying that all of the Neon Monsters are stoked to see Mishka set up shop in Echo Park. We couldn’t make the opening, but we’re viewing it vicariously through the Flickr sets of our pals MONSTREHERO (who made a signature GID ape for the event) and John Prolly, who designed the awesomeness that is the interior of the shop.
