Tuesday Time Waster: Frank Kozik Twitter Contest

Frank Kozik on TwitterFrank Kozik says FYT

We thought toy king, Frank Kozik was not in the Cult of The Twitter, but as it turns out, he’s been quietly  tweeting about rainbows and farts for a couple months now. While Frank’s not (yet) fond of, as he puts it, “twatter,” he’s agreed to amp up the twittery so you can keep tabs on his whereabouts (and bathroom bouts) at SDCC. Now that glory-stealer LeBron James is done with his Twitter debut, we shine the light on Frank’s feed. If you’d like to know what Kozik’s thinking, follow him here: http://twitter.com/frank_kozik.

Now, for those of you who are not on Twitter (or even if you are), let’s get ready to waste some (more) time. In honor of our comment form’s new capability to accept your Twitter handle (for example, type in: @jeremyriad), we’ve got a contest just for you.

Leave a comment on THIS blog post with your answer to this question: What was the inspiration for Frank’s Labbit character?

The first correct answer will be noted and revealed on Frank’s Twitter account on Friday, July 16th. This astute person will receive a never-before-seen signed 10-inch SDCC exclusive Cubano Labbit sent directly from Kozik HQ. So get guessing, and as they say in the Twitterverse, “please RT”.

Build a Stoner Fort with Frank Kozik

Frank Kozik x Kidrobot Stoner Fort Labbits

Initially, we were confused about the Kiss eyes of Frank Kozik’s latest ‘Labbit pack. But Frank cleared it up for us:

“When we where adolescent teens we liked Kiss, and we had a Stoner Fort in some crappy woods behind the strip mall where we’d hang out and party…This was 1976….”

Shocker alert: I have to admit, I’m kind of a fan of the themed Labbit packs. The Pride pack makes a lot of local customers really happy. (Similarly, this is true of the Pimpin’ pack.) Anyway, in the latest incarnation of Kozik x Kidrobot Labbits, they’re smorkin’ a little something else. The cigarettes have been exchanged for tiny joints. 100% of the Neon Monsters agree on the neon color scheme of this pack, too. In the shop for $19.95 now.

Lucky 13 Toys From Frank Kozik

kozik-bigmongers

Frank Kozik invited us over to visit his studio next month, and we’re excited to go check out his toys and music and talk to The Man himself. Frank has said his interests have a way of turning into money, and that the whole toy thing began by being a customer of Kidrobot back in the day. I guess you could call that the best rationalization to go spend some money on toys?! Our shop is currently stocked full of Frankephemera, from vinyl to plush to paper. Here’s 13.

Up above, there’s five 5-6-inch Big Mongers by Frank Kozik and Kidrobot. That’s Ramirez, Lorenzo, Magistrate Wu, Sarge and Booger all in a lineup for $24.95 each.

kozik-corpsman-labbitHere we’ve got Kozik’s latest Labbit, the Corspman. Five inches of army green, stenciling and smork for $29.95.

kozik-sarge-plushLet’s say you’re on the fence about bringing a grenade into your house. Maybe the vinyl Monger is a bit too…hard? Frank’s newest version of Sarge is 14 inches tall and sports a mustache and a body of super-soft plush for $29.95.
