Is there a doctor in the house? Hell yeah there is. Playge’s awesome Doctor (dark Retailer Version) is now in stock. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide, the 6-inch vinyl toy includes: 2 sets of arms, jeweled ‘hidden’ sword-cane, shotty, doctor cloak with revolve pattern, cloth hood, vinyl hat and a removable helmet. Playge Doctor Retail Version: Win Win Win

Playge Doctor Retail Version

Hot damn do I like this toy. Let me count the ways: colorway, shape/style and playability/pose-ability. Coupled with the kind of QC and production values  we’ve come to expect since Playge’s foray into (Mis)Fortune Cats (FYI, those are totally long-since sold out), this is currently on my most-anticipated toy list. It’s also a nice hybrid figure for those who appreciate toys as sculpture and toys as toys. The abstraction speaks to art, but the fact that you’ve got 3 choices for headgear and a “QPMNT PAC” that includes enough weaponry to swap depending on your mood is pure toy lover. And, on an almost unrelated semantics note, Playge has titled the accessory pack using the practice of disemvoweling popularized by BoingBoing. Win win win, I say. This version of the Playge Doctor is for Playge retailers. I’ll let you know if you’ll be seeing this medic in the Neon Monster shop sometime soon.

WTF? Green Misfortune Cat Still Available!

Ferg's Misfortune Cat Playge Version

The toy scene still surprises me! I thought for sure you’d be all over this Playge version of Ferg’s Misfortune Cat. Or perhaps my vision was colored, literally, by it being green? Either way, for people who care about these things, this rotocast vinyl Misfortune Cat is the third (and possibly final) colorway, and it’s the smallest run (100 pieces). Neither of those things mean much to me. I just care that it’s a green and black (mis)fortune cat. It’s also 9 inches tall, which means I’m probably going to get in trouble from my wife when it arrives. All previous editions of the Misfortune Cat have sold out, and indeed anything Ferg/Jamungo produces sells out fairly instantaneously, so at more than 2 hours following its drop, it’s only a matter of time for this kitty. Still available (as of this minute) HERE.
